Ditch the plastic flower trend and let's dry some flowers at home!

Oh! We have seen the plastic petals in every home design magazine and in every home section of department stores!

Yes, fake flowers are fuss free and add a lovely homely feel to your space but why not try a more environmentally friendly option and dry flowers yourself?

And no it is not difficult we tried it at the office!

  1. Find the flowers you want to dry. If the weather allows you can pick the flowers from your garden or wild flowers next time you go for a walk.

  2. You can remove extra leaves and cut the flowers to the desired length.

  3. Tie with a rubber band and cover the band with some twine.

  4. You can finish here and hang your flowers upside down to air dry.

  5. We opted for the silica gel option: First spray your flowers gently with some hairspray and in a container/ empty large bottle of pop or anything else you have at hand that you can seal airtight secure the flowers upright slowly adding more silica gel.

  6. Seal and leave for 72 hours.

  7. The option with hairspray and silica gel preserves the colours much better!
